This is not easy to say, but after two years of the same leadership, our board continues to operate without transparency or owner involvement.
Examples include:
- No open board discussion or recorded positions of it’s members on the gym renovation or alternative uses of funds
- Approval of a mini-market that earns the association no income while creating costs and liabilities
- Lawsuits pursued without explanation or owner input, again no recorded positions
- Ongoing staff turnover that has negatively affected building operations
- Reduced Transparency limiting quantity of information requests
My Recommendation
You may vote for up to five candidates.
Vote for only ONE: Omar Rey
Why?
Because one independent voice can:
- Ask the questions that are not being asked
- Push for transparency
- Report back to owners on what happens behind closed doors
I opposed Omar’s candidacy last year. This year, he has the opportunity to serve as a necessary check on unchecked decision-making.
A vote for anyone else is a vote for a status quo board; no transparency and continued dictatorship. Most of these candidates who either have a history of relationships or not pushing back against Olena the board president.
Whatever you do, DO NOT vote for Peter Scarlatos. Peter has demonstrated behavior at board meetings that raises serious concerns about professionalism and judgment. We do not need a return of the bullying style of a man who demonstrated a clear anger management issue requiring him to be restrained by two FSR employees at a March 2024 board meeting. He rushed a no-bid $40,000 approval for Pye-Barker on the sprinkler system because he has a relationship with them as an employee.
