By now, many of you have seen the association’s latest reminder email regarding “Package Receiving Procedures & Policies.”

Most of the rules seem fair enough. However, one statement stands out:
“Shipping & Receiving is not to be used as a drop-off or holding address for any type of commercial use or company.”
That rule may conflict with our bylaws — and notably, it has never been formally posted or enforced before.
But the real irony is this:
The email states — TWICE — that packages must be logged in before they are handed to residents.
That would carry more credibility if residents hadn’t already suffered the “free-for-all” self-service chaos in Receiving during November, December, and January — a situation created under this board’s management.
Today’s larger question is this:
If the board can continue creating and posting rules for residents… should some rules also apply to the board?
How about the board commits to:
- Providing at least one week notice before board meetings.
- How about promoting Board Meetings in same fervor as the parties hosted by our board president?
- Commit to approving or denying new resident applications within 7 days.
- Commit to approving or denying architectural modification requests within 7 days.
Did you know our bylaws state that if the board does not respond to an architectural request within 30 days, the modification is automatically deemed approved?

- Commit to hiring and retaining quality staff instead of the constant cycle of dismissals and turnover. Residents deserve honesty and transparency regarding why staff continue disappearing.
- Creating accountability for the failing Livvie notification system.
If a package is logged in but no Livvie notification is sent, perhaps the board should pay residents $5 per occurrence. After four months, I could probably afford a steak dinner at “The Mexican” here on the island. - Commit to establishing an actual service standard for package processing.
Residents have been ORDERED to “allow sufficient time” for packages to be logged in.
What exactly is “sufficient time”:
8 hours? 12 hours? A week?
If residents are expected to follow rules, then the board should commit to measurable standards of service as well.
This entire situation has been mismanaged by our “Micro-Managing Board President.”
Receiving has appeared increasingly unprofessional, inconsistent, and ultimately a liability for the association in lost packages and weight issues.
